Quote
A Quote is a quotation that defines the specific terms and conditions for a financial transaction — including the exchange rate, applicable fees, and the converted amounts. The Quote acts as a preliminary agreement that locks the details of a transfer before the definitive order is created.
Technical definition
A Quote establishes the conditions for a transfer using the source and
destination of the funds and the payout_method. From these, the system
determines the exchange rate and any fees that apply to the transaction.
Request a Quote with POST /quotations:
{
"source": {
"currency": "USDR"
},
"destination": {
"country": "VE",
"currency": "VES",
"payout_method": { "type": "P2P_PHONE_TRANSFER" }
},
"quote": {
"mode": "SEND_EXACT",
"amount": "100.00"
}
}
The response returns a quotation with its id, the locked exchange rate, fees,
and the resulting amounts.
Using a Quote to create an order
Once a Quote has been generated, it is used as the basis to create an order, guaranteeing the transaction executes under the previously agreed conditions. The Quote ensures that fees, exchange rate, and transferred amount stay constant during order creation.
The order references the Quote through quotation_id (POST /orders, with
your idempotency reference in the X-Idempotency-Key header):
{
"quotation_id": "a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890",
"metadata": { "invoice_id": "INV-2026-00456", "batch_id": "BATCH-VE-032" },
"purpose": "FAMILY_SUPPORT",
"sender": {
"names": "Ana MarÃa",
"last_names": "Pérez Gómez",
"document": { "type": "CC", "id": "1020304050", "country": "CO" },
"country": "CO"
},
"destination": {
"receiver": {
"names": "Carlos Andrés",
"last_names": "RodrÃguez López",
"document": { "type": "V", "id": "12345678", "country": "VE" },
"country": "VE"
},
"payment_instructions": {
"bank_phone_account": { "bank_name": "BNC_VE", "phone_number": "+584121234567", "document_id": "12345678" }
}
}
}
The quotation_id ties the order directly to the previously generated Quote,
using the agreed terms.
Technical importance
- Basis for order execution — the Quote provides a precise reference to create an order, ensuring the transaction's conditions are preserved.
- Rate and term stability — once a Quote is created, the exchange rate and fees stay constant, with no unexpected fluctuations during order creation.
- Cost optimization — clients can compare the conditions of several quotations before confirming a transaction, choosing the most cost-effective option.
Considerations
- Time validity — Quotes have a limited lifetime; they must be used to create an order before they expire.
- Order correspondence — the order must be created with the same Quote to keep the transaction conditions consistent.
The Quote is a fundamental piece of the payout process: it guarantees the transparency and precision of the transaction terms before the transfer is definitively executed.
